Chapter Ten

Big Silk road around chain smoking Cuban cigars. With everything going on he had forgotten all about Johnny. The next thing on his agenda was to whip up some paperwork and force Johnny to sign all of the exclusive rights over to him. Right now, he had to focus on how he was going to handle the Smooth situation. He was stuck between a rock and a hard place. He knew that his every move he made was being watched and that made him uneasy. He felt the weight of the world was on his shoulders. Maria called his cell phone. It was the perfect time. To Big Silk, Maria represented the only innocent and pure thing in his life. It didn’t matter what he was going through, just the thought of her could bring him back to a peaceful state of mind. He didn’t answer her call because he decided to surprise her with a dozen roses from her favorite flower shop. Big Silk knew he had been neglecting his loving wife and child at home, so he knew that he had to do something to put her mind at ease the moment he walked in the house.

Just as he pulled up in the driveway his phone rang again. It was a private number, so more than likely he knew that it was Smooth. “Yeah what you want man? Damn, I’m home with my family.”

Smooth didn’t care about any of that. “I don’t care if you are sitting on the side of your mother on her death bed right now. You got a job to do so I suggest you don’t waste your time.”

Big Silk took a deep breath trying to hold back how he really felt about Smooth calling him with this kind of disrespect. He could hear music playing inside of the house as he pulled inside of the garage. He could see through the glass of the garage door how happy Maria and his son were. Smooth was steady rambling on, but Big Silk was too busy smiling and looking at his family to even care what he had to say.

“You know what Smooth. You and whoever you are working for can go screw yourself. I didn’t get to where I’m at in life by being extorted. I got the streets on lock. I got all the money and all the power I need to shut the both of you down. You think just cause you got a couple of pictures of me and Carmen that I’m supposed to bow down to your bitch ass? You got me, bent homeboy. I don’t fold that easy. So you and the big man you keep talking about can raise up off my nuts.”

Smooth sat in silence on the other end of the phone before he hysterically laugh. “AHHHHHHHAAAA. So this is the route that you want to take, huh? This is your last warning, Julius.”

Silk cut him short. “That’s another thing. My name is Big Silk, homey,
